TC Online has designed our Appropriate Use Policy to help protect our customers, and the Internet community, from the inappropriate use of the Internet. A customer's use of TC Online service constitutes acceptance of this AUP.
General ViolationsThe following activities are prohibited:Privacy Violations:Attempts, whether successful or unsuccessful, to gain access to any electronic systems, networks or data, without proper consent, are prohibited. Threats:Threats of bodily harm or destruction of property. Reselling:The resale of TC Online service without proper authorization from TC Online. Impersonation/Forgery:Attempting to impersonate any person by using forged headers or other identifying information is prohibited. The use of anonymous remailers and nicknames does not constitute impersonation. Using deliberately misleading headers ("munging" headers) in news postings in order to avoid spam e-mail address collectors is allowed provided appropriate contact information is contained in the body of the posting. Illegal Activity:The use of TC Online service for any illegal purposes is prohibited. Unattended UsageIf you have purchased an "unlimited use" account you should understand that "unlimited" does NOT mean "unattended" or "dedicated connection". It simply means that a live person or persons are allowed to interactively use the internet connection as much as you want. But, unattended use is abuse. A general guidline for the industry for acceptable unlimted usage is 250 hours per month. That amounts to more than 8 hours per day.
Network Interference
Internet Relay Chat (IRC)The use of IRC bots is prohibited. The violation of any accepted policies on IRC servers is prohibited. Bandwidth or Disk UtilizationTC Online account descriptions specify any limits on bandwidth and disk utilization. The use of bandwidth or disk space in excess of those limits is not permitted. Bandwidth is determined by the total number of bytes transferred from an account's Web and FTP space. Disk utilization is determined by the total number of bytes required to store an account's Web, FTP, and Mail data. If TC Online determines that excessive bandwidth or disk space utilization is adversely affecting TC Online's ability to provide service, TC Online will take immediate action. TC Online will notify the account owner by e-mail as soon as possible. Reporting AbuseAnyone who believes that there is a violation of this Appropriate Use Policy should direct the information to the TC Online technical staff at the appropriate address: webmaster@tconline.net - TC Online customers who wish to report "spam" should send copies of the mail they received along with full header information. All of these messages may not receive a response, but TC Online may use the information received at this address to aid in the development of our filter lists. TCOnline may take any one or more of the following actions in response to complaints filed by our customers:
If you wish to submit information concerning violations, the more information TC Online has the better. Please send the IP address used to commit violations, the date and time the violation occurred, copies of any evidence that the violation occurred. Working together we can insure that the Internet remains a good tool for everyone. |
